Insurance Certificates

How to request a Certificate of Insurance (COI) when a general contractor, property manager, or commercial customer needs proof of liability and worker's comp coverage.

Step One — Gather Required Information

Gather the information the customer needs to be listed on the COI.

  • Company nameMost common — the Certificate Holder
  • Mailing addressMost common — the Certificate Holder's address
  • Additional building addresses (notes area)Property Management and Development companies typically require every building they manage to be listed in the notes section

Step Two — Requesting Liability Certificate

Email our insurance agent and request the liability COI.

  • Email justin@linnaneins.comSubjectCertificate RequestBody“Can you please send me over a COI for this customer?” — then paste the information gathered in Step 1.
  • If Justin doesn't reply within a couple of hours (or you get a vacation auto-reply), email patrick@linnaneins.com with the same requestPatrick is Justin's backup at Linnane Insurance.

Step Three — Request Worker's Comp Certificate

Worker's Comp certificates are self-service through the eComp portal.

  • Open the Worker's Comp portal — secure.goecomp.com/report/dashboard.htmlGenerate the WC certificate using the listing info from Step 1.
  • If the login isn't saved in the browser, open BitWarden and search “Worker”The portal credentials are stored in BitWarden under that entry.
  • Once logged in, click Request A Certificate in the top menu
  • Verify the Policy Holder information (our company info)Should be pre-populated — you may need to type in our phone number: 978-777-9900.
  • Enter the customer's info under Requesting Party's InformationUse the listing details gathered in Step 1.
  • Paste any additional property addresses or requested verbiage into the Job Information Needed on Certificate boxThis is where the extra building addresses for Property Management / Development companies go, along with any special wording the customer asked for.
  • Check the Email box and enter your own email address so they send the PDF to youThe PDF typically arrives in your inbox within a couple of hours — you'll forward it to the customer in Step 4.

Step Four — Send Certificates to Customer

  • Wait for both certificate PDFs to land in your emailLiability from Linnane (Step 2) and Worker's Comp from the eComp portal (Step 3).
  • Draft an email to the customer and attach both PDFs
